I just finished my first IVF cycle with Dr. Redmond and have 6 perfect frozen embryos waiting to be transferred. I am not pregnant yet, but the odds are certainly in our favour. I would recommend her to anyone. She is not the warmest person in the world, but she is honest and gives you the facts. We never felt rushed during our appointments, and she even took the time to explain the whole IVF process to my husband and I in great detail, as I am a naturally very curious person. First of all, I can be in and out of the Hannam clinic for my daily bloodwork/ultra sounds in half an hour. I know people that spend all morning at their fertility clinic. I feel as though they do their best to respect your time. I always tried to show up right before 7am, and made it to work downtown by 8am, even on days I needed to see the nurse. Dr. Redmond's consult appointments for us have always been on time as well. We started seeing Dr. Redmond in April, had our diagnosis in June (male factor infertility), and were immediately put on the IVF wait list, given a quote for self-funded IVF, and given a few treatment options in the meantime. We elected to try some drugs to tighten up my cycle for a few months, plus progesterone, and . Due to our male factor issues, Dr. Redmond told us trying naturally had a slim chance of working, but was happy to let us keep going as long as we wanted, until we were ready to move on to IVF. She said we were not candidates for IUI due to my husband's low sperm count, but said we could try it if we wanted to. We took her advise and moved right to IVF this November. For the record, I am 31. I am reading many negative comments about this doctor from women in their early 40s who are surprised to hear that their fertility may not be optimal. As much as we would like to stop our biological clocks, women are not as fertile in their 40s as they are in their 30s and not as fertile in their 30s as they are in their 20s. If a doctor tells you this (very true) piece of information, it seems like they are trying to prevent you from spending time, energy and money on something that may not work. I would be upset if I had a doctor that let me believe that my IVF cycle at 43 had a high percentage of working! Even at 31, she outlined all the risks to me about what could go wrong during the process so that I was prepared and understood how complex IVF is, and the many things that could happen along the way.
