Most of the time when you read effusive reviews online, you start to wonder if they are inflated in some way. I want to share my experience that Dr. Sean is truly is who his reviews say he is.
I came to Dr. Sean as a black woman with very coily hair with a mixed picture of CCCA scarring alopecia and what was diagnosed as traction alopecia, something other doctors had not been able to help. I was missing much of my front hairline. I had been on years of oral, topical and injected medications without improvement, and I was discouraged, knowing that I was I was an uncommon, case, especially as many times scarring alopecia is not transplantable.
From the minute I met Dr. Sean I felt hope that even if he could not transplant me, he was going to do his very best to help me, as a dermatologist and as a person. His manner is very sincere, kind and honest. He is truly an empath.
Dr. Sean went above and beyond, requesting biopsies from years prior across state lines, reviewing them with multiple dermatopathologists and colleagues around the world, and coming up with my first accurate diagnosis: a mixed picture of androgenic and scarring alopecia. The androgenic component might possibly be able to be transplanted, although he was very upfront with me about risks and benefits.
My transplant procedure was a tough case but ended up going great. His staff made me feel wonderfully cared for.
One year later my transplanted front hairline has given me new confidence I never thought possible.
Dr. Sean eats, sleeps and breathes hair transplant. He is among the very best in his field. He is very well versed in transplanting ethnic hair, something the majority of transplant surgeons have less expertise in. Not only that, but he travels to and speaks at international conferences, keeping up with the latest in transplant technology.
Alopecia is a difficult diagnosis, but in our culture, women, especially black women, are affected in a unique way because hair is such an important part of our expression of not only our femininity but also our culture. When I went to Dr. Behnam I felt that, win or lose, he was going to do his utmost to help me, and that alone was worth everything.
Long after the procedure he checks up on me and is invested in my best possible outcome.
If I could rate him 10 stars I could. Don't bother seeing anyone else in LA (I tried) - go with Dr. Behnam.
